Intro to React

Workshop description: This workshop will get you ready to start working on your first React app. It will include all the concepts you need to understand, including ES6, JSX, State Management and how to structure your components. Everything will be taught with examples for you to work through during the workshop, to ensure you have fully understood.

What you will learn: During this workshop you will learn how to set up a new JavaScript project to use webpack and babel, how to get use React, JSX and new ES6 features to build applications, and how to handle cross cutting concerns such as data fetching in a react application.

Experience required: This course will require basic familiarity with building applications in JavaScript. No prior knowledge of React, Webpack, or Node.js is assumed. Don’t worry if you’re not up to speed on the latest ES6 features, as we’ll cover any of the ES6 features you need to use.

Environment: You will need a laptop running either Mac or Windows with the latest LTS release of node.js installed. You will also need a text editor that you are comfortable with using to edit JavaScript.
