You can fix everything
12:30 - 13:00, 22nd of May (Thursday) 2014/ XL STAGE
Engineers are great at solving hard problems. Even problems they don't know how to solve. If Twitter is down, people can complain on Facebook and carry on. But if Prezi is down and people can't show their presentations, they can mess up their sales pitches, ruin their thesis presentations or look a fool in front of a conference audience. So availability is extremely important for us. A few years ago, we were terrible at it and were letting our users down. A lot of people doubted whether we could fix our problems but eventually we did. And it's through this war story that I'll show you why engineers are more than capable of running the world.
