The Problem with Accelerators in Emerging Ecosystems

The 'modern' accelerator model is now 10 years old. Today, there may be as many as 1,000 accelerators around the world. Most are built around a combination of training, mentoring and networking. Unfortunately, most accelerators in emerging ecosystems fail to deliver significant results for both the startups and their investors.  In 2017, US Market Access Center brought together a group of investors and educators in Silicon Valley, all with global experience, in order to better understand why. In this session, we will examine their findings and offer our recommendations on what accelerator managers can do to improve the results for their startups and investors.
