New urban mobility – a shift towards more sustainable mobility ecosystem

The term “New Mobility” refers to new and tech driven modes of transport that are to be the gamechanger and redesign urban mobility as we know it. The promise of New Mobility is to create an alternative to private car ownership and to create “Mobility-as-a-Service” (MaaS) - a digital ecosystem, in which all possible means of transportation are available for the citizens seamlessly.

How this can be achieved?

Through reassessing the way we are moving in cities, reducing private car use and instead fostering micromobility and multimodal trips combining public transit with shared mobility. Also essential will be creating an open marketplace for mobility data, establishing public-private cooperation among key mobility stakeholders and adapting our mobility habits to the New Normal, unless we still want to live in cities with 35%-50% of its space used for roads and parking only.
