Building Transcendental Technology, A Practical Guide

12:30 - 12:50, 23rd of September (Wednesday) 2020/ INSPIRE STAGE

As our understanding of the physical world improves, so does our ability to assess the risks to sustaining life, happy and health life, on the planet over the long term. There are certain physical realities we cannot impact, but for those that we can, we have to do our utmost to ensure sustainable, high quality life for all people, that is the challenge of humanity. One way to support this mission is through the advancement and continuous adoption of new technology. But not all technology is the same.

In media and as a society, we use the world technology to mean anything from internet access to quantum computing. The truth is that within this scope there is great, life changing technology which can enhance human existence, and there is meaningless mundane technology which distracts society from a higher purpose. From the lab to the market to the investors, we need to continuously filter out the meaningless technology from the critical technology and focus our time and initiatives on the latter. We need to be driven by purpose and value, not just value. This takes a concerted effort and a structured approach.
