Why Do We Learn to Smile Before We Learn to Speak?

Share:

We learn to smile long before we learn to speak. Not because it’s cute, but because it helps us survive. It’s one of the first ways we do to connect. And yet, in a world that rewards relentless productivity and constant performance, our capacity to build relationships is often the first thing we lose. We rarely talk about it — especially at work. But it shows up every day: as disengagement, chronic stress, and growing sense of exhaustion. This talk offers a different perspective on professional burnout. Not as a result of working too much, but as a consequence of losing connection - with others, with meaning, and with ourselves.

This is not a talk about doing more. It’s a talk about what happens when we lose something essential — and what it takes to find our way back.
