The Role Of Art in A Digital Era - Rethinking The Future Of Tech
10:40 - 11:00, 23rd of September (Wednesday) 2020/ INSPIRE STAGE
The ubiquitous nature of technology is transforming spaces, connection and interaction. Ever more sophisticated software enables new communication structures and provides opportunities for creating new learning environments. But as our lives become increasingly channeled and managed by artificial systems - tech also threatens to reduce humans to the status of commodification. As we are entering a new decade for humanistic and ethical technology art plays an important role in rethinking and shaping the future of tech. Art is inclusive, it shed lights on the moral limits, it nudges status quo and helps us imagining possible futures. As Albert Einstein put it in 1923: “After a certain high level of technical skill is achieved, science and art tend to coalesce in aesthetics, plasticity, and form. The greatest scientists are artists as well.”
