Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała

Katarzyna Gruszecka-Spychała

Deputy Mayor of Gdynia

For the last six years, Katarzyna has been responsible for economic development and strategy for the city of Gdynia. She believes that new technologies and innovative projects, both in the area of economy and public services, should primarily improve the quality of life in the city. This approach works because Gdynia has topped the rankings of Polish cities when it comes to how satisfied with their place of residence the people are.

Recently, Katarzyna has been particularly involved in implementing zero and low-emission solutions in public transport, symbolized by Gdynia's trolleybuses. She is responsible for the activities of the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park, which allows her to stay up to date with the ideas of Gdynia’s innovators. She is also involved in the operation of the Hydrogen Cluster and creation of the Pomeranian Hydrogen Valley, which has a chance to become one of the driving forces of the regional economy. Katarzyna is constantly looking for inspiring urban solutions and policies, especially through international cooperation. Among other duties, she is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the initiator of Gdynia’s membership in The European Waterfront Cities Network.
