Java - What's up modularity - Introduction to OSGi [EN]

10:00 - 13:00, 11th of June (Thursday) 2015/ WORKSHOP STAGE #2

Modularity is an architectural theme you’ll hear about more and more. Being able to deal with change in a codebase is not something trivial and requires some serious thought. OSGi is the defacto standard for modularity in Java. In this workshop you will learn how to build modern (web) applications in a modular fashion using an open source stack based on OSGi. You will learn about working with databases, create RESTful web services, create integration tests and much more. If you're looking for a productive development stack for your next cloud app, this is the talk for you.

Workshop led by Paul Bakker - software architect for Luminis Technologies and the author of "Building Modular Cloud Apps With OSGi" published by O'Reilly. He believes that modularity and the cloud are two of the main challenges we have to deal with to bring technology to the next level, and is working on making this possible for mainstream software development. Paul is an active contributor on open source projects such as Amdatu, Apache ACE and BndTools. He has a background as a trainer on Java related technology and is a regular speaker at conferences.
