How AI sees animals invisible to humans to preserve life.
12:40 - 13:00, 6th of October (Thursday) 2022/ INSPIRE STAGE
“AI this, AI that” we hear that everywhere. But… What is the practical use of AI? How, apart from commercial use, can it help humanity? We set a dream of making use of AI and data to improve and preserve life. In our Data for Good initiative, we focus on climate change and environmental protection. We believe these issues will become the primary challenges to humanity in the decades to come.
During this talk, I’ll invite you to think about doing the right things while growing your business. I’ll tell you a story of a Park Ranger from Lopé National Park in Gabon, and how we helped them preserve wildlife using AI. We saved them months of manual work - all that without internet access, in deep forest when they track various animal species and follow maps of the distribution through GPS coordinates. I’ll tell you how analyzing the condition of plankton in the oceans has a significant influence over the whole global ecosystem. And why should we care?
Our work was already recognized by The Independent, Euronews and The Guardian. We started with no data and no network. I will share what we did, how it made us successful so far and our upcoming Data 4 Good efforts.
