Bridging AI skills gap among future workforce

11:00 - 11:20, 25th of September (Friday) 2020/ INSPIRE STAGE

At Intel, we believe that being a catalyst for change comes with the responsibility of ensuring the world is prepared for the technological transformations we help usher in. This has never been truer than it is for Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is the ability of machines to learn from experience, without explicit programming, in order to perform cognitive functions associated with the human mind. It is an overarching discipline - a form of intelligence, a type of technology, and a field of study. AI is treated as new electricity by experts worldwide.

Hence governments worldwide are working on creating comprehensive national AI strategies to create a sustainable, inclusive, and positive impact on its citizens and industries. However AI skill crisis is recognized as the biggest barrier for wider AI adoption. Public awareness and understanding of AI remain low as long as the technical and social understanding of AI is limited only to large organizations, technology or higher education communities. There is an urgent need for demystifying AI and democratizing understanding of AI through appropriate AI readiness programs for current & future workforce. A skilled and competent societyis the foundation for the growth of any nation, enabling the economy to adjust to disruptions
