Data and technology is the lifeblood of F1 car development. The teams generate Petabytes of data in both their in-house car development and the extensive track running. The aim of an F1 team is to be “always on” in terms of development and therefore they are constantly looking for methods in which they can fuse the track and simulation environment together. Corelation between these is the most crucial factor of all. In this talk we will look at how data has evolved from the humble beginnings to where the teams are today with Machine Learning methods and IOT. The quest for more data is never ending but how do the teams really exploit key value from the data?
