Vilash Poovala

Vilash Poovala has over 19 years of product management and business development experience (mobile, eCommerce, financial services and payments). He has joined PayU as Chief Product & Technology Officer of PayU EMEA in January 2017. As a member of the Leadership Team he focus on the successful execution of PayU’s strategic objectives by establishing the company’s tech and product vision, steering the product roadmap and leading all aspects of the company’s technology development.

Vilash has served as an adviser and/or developer for several payments/commerce startups; most notably, one of these startups, PlayerScale, was acquired by Yahoo in May 2013. His fascination and passion for payments was first sparked while building cutting edge wallet products to ease online checkout at his first payments startup, Globeset which was acqui-hired by Visa in 2000.

Most recently, Vilash was the co-founder and CTO of Clip, a mobile POS provider in LATAM. In addition to being the CTO, he helped raise $40M in multiple rounds of funding. Prior to joining Clip, Vilash was the Sr. Director of Products for Consumer and Merchant Acceptance at V.me by Visa. He successfully launched V.me wallet and checkout across 33 of the top US e-tailers. Vilash also worked at PayPal where he focused on rolling out new markets and products like PayPal Debit card and Transactional Credit.
