The Startup Contest, an integral part of the Infoshare conference, offers creative minds a platform to showcase their ideas to the Infoshare community and potential investors. Let's dive into the semifinalists of the 2024 edition!

Who are the semifinalist of this year edition of Startup Contest?

This year, we received 257 applications from 31 countries, and the top 20 most inspiring ideas have advanced to the semifinals. Let's explore who will compete for the €20,000 prize.

Health & Medtech & Wellbeing dominates

The majority of competitors in this year's Startup Contest are focused on Health, Medtech, and Wellbeing. From apps aiding self-care to innovative solutions for living with chronic diseases, the proposals are diverse. For instance, Bodynetic employs AI-driven technology to analyse posture and provide feedback to users. Longlive is a smartwatch that measures 10 factors, including heart rate and body temperature, which can help with self-monitoring of our health status. Another application allowing to monitor user's well-being is TCR App Mobility. In this case, however, the observation of drivers' behaviors aims to reduce the risk of road accidents. The application creates an individual user profile and generates sound warnings to help the driver maintain focus.

Startups like MyEpi and Vivid Mind offer apps for detecting early signs of diseases. The first one was created for people suffering from epilepsy (it informs the family of the patient about seizures and reminds them about taking medications). The second solution facilitates detecting dementia.

Competitors in the Health, Medtech, and Wellbeing sectors introduced diverse innovations. Aqvena innovated an air humidifier inspired by the serene flow of natural waterfalls. Another concept, Feeding Robot "Fidi," aids disabled persons by facilitating meal consumption through robotic assistance. Calmsie Therapeutics presents a therapeutic application for children, leveraging interactive games to educate them about emotions. Lastly, Cexal specializes in tracing an extensive array of organic and inorganic molecules.

Green Innovations and Smart Solutions for cities and homes

Many startups are committed to environmental sustainability. Infrared City offers environmental simulations with AI-driven models. Noteworthy solutions include Hydrum's production of green hydrogen from saline water and Urinergy's extraction of fuel from urine. The next competitor of Startup Contest is reCLO, whose solution helps repurpose materials instead of disposing of them. The main values of this startup are centered around green and digital transitions. Monetizing leftovers from producers helps minimize material waste and contribute to environmental protection. Additionally, reCLO's solution enables providing surplus materials to those in need. The next startup focused on saving environment is SeaSoil whose transforms biowaste into biodegradable and compostable materials, including packaging and pots.

Another intriguing entry in the Startup Contest is the lighting management system developed by MTAP SMART CITY. The remaining three contenders are active in the food and agrotech sectors. Gaston AI offers an app tailored for individuals adhering to specific diets, ensuring meal delivery or dining out aligns with their dietary needs. The subsequent two startups concentrate on food cultivation. iPAGE GLOBAL provides smallholders with decision-making support by granting access to soil, weather, and climate-smart agricultural data. Meanwhile, Mewery stands out as Europe's pioneer in cultivating pork meat using proprietary microalgae technology.

Security Solutions and Beyond

In addition to health and environmental sectors, startups in security solutions, such as DefendEye, are competing. AstroTeq.ai introduces a tool to enhance earthquake detection capabilities.
